Storyline
A man falls in love with a beautiful woman, but later discovers that her brothers are gangsters.
About Welcome Movie
Welcome is a Hindi comedy action drama film directed by Anees Bazmee, who co-wrote the script with Rajiv Kaul and Praful Parekh. The film stars Feroz Khan, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Paresh Rawal, and Mallika Sherawat in prominent roles. It marked the last screen appearance of Feroz Khan who died in 2009.
The film was loosely inspired by the 1999 comedy Mickey Blue Eyes. It is the first installment of the Welcome series and spawned a sequel, Welcome Back in 2015 that also became a commercial success. A third, installment in the series, titled Welcome to the Jungle, is slated for release in 2025.
Anil Kapoor and Akshay Kumar were having issues with each other as to whose name should feature first in film credits. Kapoor said it should be his as he is senior to Kumar, while Kumar said it should be his as he is the lead hero in the film. Anees Bazmee the director of the film stepped in and said Feroze Khan’s name would be first in the credits as he is senior to everyone in the cast.
Katrina Kaif’s voice was dubbed by a dubbing artist in the film.
Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar reunited on screen after 18 years, their last collaboration being Parinda (1989). Meanwhile, Feroz Khan and Anil Kapoor worked together again after 21 years, having last shared the screen in Jaanbaaz (1986)
A sequel to the film, titled Welcome Back, was released on September 4, 2015. It featured John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, and Paresh Rawal. Initially scheduled for release on December 19, 2014, the film was delayed and eventually hit theaters in 2015.
Welcome Release Date
Welcome was theatrically released worldwide on 21 December 2007, coinciding with the Christmas festival. The film received mostly mixed to positive reviews from critics leading to stiff competition with Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par. Nevertheless, Welcome was a major commercial success and went on to become the second highest-grossing Hindi film of the year with global revenues of ₹1.22 billion (US$15 million).
