About Phoenix Movie
Phoenix is an upcoming Tamil sports action drama film written and directed by debutant Anl Arasu, who had earlier been a stunt choreographer in several notable movies, including the recently released Jaat, Indian 2, critically acclaimed Maharaja, and one of the top-grossing Indian films of 2023, Jawan.
Surya Vijay Sethupathi, son of actor Vijay Sethupathi, who earlier worked as a child artist in movies like Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015) and Sindhubaadh (2019), features in the lead role in the movie. It also features Abinakshathra and Varsha as the female leadss, along with J. Vignesh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Sampath Raj, and Devadarshini.
After a formal puja ceremony, the principal photography began on November 24, 2023, at AVM Studios in Chennai. The teaser of the movie was released by Sivakarthikeyan on X on June 17, 2024, following a teaser launch function at Le Magic in Nungambakkam, where Surya’s father and Vijay Sethupathi were present.

Phoenix Movie Release Date
Phoenix will be released theatrically on July 4, 2025. It was originally scheduled to be released on November 14, 2024, which would have been in conflict with Kanguva, but the release was then postponed without assigning a date due to cuts ordered by the Central Board of Film Certification.
