Storyline:
The film follows SpongeBob, as he travels to the depths of the ocean to face off against the Flying Dutchman.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is based on the SpongeBob SquarePants television series created by Stephen Hillenburg. It marks the fourth theatrical film in the series, following releases in 2004, 2015, and 2020.
The development of a fourth SpongeBob SquarePants film was officially confirmed in February 2022. During Paramount Pictures’ CinemaCon panel in April 2023, the film’s title was revealed as The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, with series veteran Derek Drymon set to direct.
In April 2024, it was confirmed that the regular voice cast, including Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, and Mr. Lawrence, would reprise their roles. Pam Brady and Lisa Stewart were announced as producers. At San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024, Mark Hamill revealed that he would be voicing the Flying Dutchman, replacing Brian Doyle-Murray.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is set for a theatrical release on December 19, 2025, by Paramount Pictures. It was initially scheduled for release on May 23, 2025, but was pushed back due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, with Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning taking the May 2025 slot.
