About Stree 2 Movie:

Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank is a Hindi comedy-horror film directed by Amar Kaushik, written by Niren Bhatt, and jointly produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios. Serving as the fourth installment in the Maddock Supernatural Universe and a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree, the film features an ensemble cast including Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana.

Plans for the sequel were announced by Amar Kaushik in October 2018, following the success of the original film. Produced by Raj and DK alongside Dinesh Vijan, the project faced delays due to script development, with filming originally slated for 2019 but postponed to 2020. By 2022, both Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor confirmed that the sequel’s storyline was finalized, picking up from where the first film left off.

Pre-production began in March 2023, and filming commenced on 10 July 2023 in Chanderi. Adjustments were made to accommodate Pankaj Tripathi’s schedule for Main Atal Hoon (2024). Varun Dhawan joined in February 2024 for a guest appearance, reprising his role from Bhediya (2022). An improvised scene featuring Rajkummar Rao singing “Calm Down” by Rema and Selena Gomez led to the producers paying ₹25 lakh in royalties.

The Central Board of Film Certification granted the film a U/A rating after requesting two minor audio modifications, resulting in a final runtime of 149 minutes. The teaser debuted with Munjya on 14 June 2024, followed by a trailer release on 18 July 2024, which garnered over 10 million views within 24 hours.

Stree 2 was released worldwide on 15 August 2024, coinciding with Independence Day, and received critical acclaim. It grossed over ₹874.58 crore (US$100 million) globally, making it the third highest-grossing Indian film of the year, the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024, and one of the top-grossing Indian films of all time. The film premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 10 October 2024, extending its reach to a wider audience.
