About Sikandar Movie

Sikandar is a Hindi action thriller film written and directed by A. R. Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. Starring Salman Khan in the titular role, the film also features Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar in key roles.

In February 2024, reports confirmed that Salman Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala would reunite after a decade, following their collaboration on Kick (2014). Shortly after, it was announced that A. R. Murugadoss would direct the project, marking his first collaboration with Khan. Murugadoss had initially pitched Ghajini to Khan in 2006, but it took 18 years for the two to finally work together. Both Nadiadwala and Murugadoss agreed that Khan was the perfect fit for the lead role.

The film was officially announced by Khan on Eid-al-Fitr 2024 through social media, where he expressed his excitement about collaborating with Murugadoss and Nadiadwala. Sikandar is set to be filmed across multiple countries, including Portugal, other European nations, and India, throughout 2024-25. With a production budget of ₹400 crore, it stands as Nadiadwala’s most ambitious project to date.

Murugadoss, simultaneously directing the Tamil action film Madharasi starring Sivakarthikeyan, aimed to complete significant portions of Madharasi before fully committing to Sikandar.

In May 2024, Rashmika Mandanna was confirmed as the female lead, marking her first collaboration with Khan. Sathyaraj and Prateik Babbar were also announced as part of the cast, followed by Sharman Joshi, Kajal Aggarwal, and Anjini Dhawan in September 2024. In October 2024, actor Kishore joined the ensemble.

Principal photography began on 19 June 2024 with high-intensity aerial action sequences in Mumbai. The first schedule featured a confrontation scene between Khan and Babbar and wrapped up by July 2024. The second schedule, lasting over 40 days from late August, included intense fight sequences, gun battles, and hand-to-hand combat, with elaborate sets worth ₹15 crore constructed to resemble Mumbai’s Dharavi and Matunga localities. During filming, Khan suffered a rib injury while performing an action scene. A festive dance number featuring Khan and Mandanna, accompanied by 200 background dancers, was also filmed. However, production was temporarily halted in late September due to heavy rainfall.

Security concerns further delayed the shoot after Khan received death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, alongside an incident of gunfire reported at his residence. Filming resumed in November 2024 at Taj Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad, under heightened security. During this schedule, two songs—one Qawwali-themed and another set against the backdrop of Holi—were shot. A large-scale train action sequence involving 350 extras was also filmed on elaborate sets in Borivali and Mumbai’s suburban regions.

As of January 2025, the final schedule is underway in Mumbai. The film will feature four high-octane action sequences set in an aircraft, a train, a jail, and a hospital.

Sikandar will be theatrically released worldwide on 28 March 2025, coinciding with Eid-al-Fitr. The film will be released on 5000 screens across India.
