Storyline
Set in the 1800s, the story follows a dacoit tribe and their fight for independence against British rule. It was theatrically released on 22 July 2022.
About Shamshera Movie
Shamshera is a Hindi period action drama produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films and directed by Karan Malhotra. The film features Ranbir Kapoor in a dual role, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Vaani Kapoor, Ronit Roy, and Saurabh Shukla.
This marked Ranbir Kapoor’s return to the big screen after a four-year break, primarily due to delays caused by the making of this film and his other major project, Brahmāstra, both of which were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The story of Shamshera was originally conceived by Khila Bisht, a college friend of Neelesh Misra, who co-wrote the screenplay.
Yash Raj Films officially introduced Shamshera in May 2018 through a motion poster, revealing Ranbir Kapoor as the titular character. Sanjay Dutt was cast in a significant role, while Vaani Kapoor was brought on as the female lead. To prepare for her character, Vaani Kapoor underwent professional training in Kathak, as she portrays a dancer in the film.
Principal photography began in December 2018. A large-scale fort set was constructed at Film City, Goregaon, taking two months and the efforts of nearly 300 workers. The filming process concluded in September 2020.
