Storyline
Having recently served a suspension for gambling online while on duty, Circle Inspector Vivek Gopinath rejoins the police force and is looking to reclaim his lost honour. Awaiting him is a 40-year-old, unresolved murder mystery with a faceless victim.
About Rekhachithram Movie
Rekhachithram is a Malayalam mystery crime thriller directed by Jofin T. Chacko, with a script by John Manthrikal, based on a story by Ramu Sunil. The film is jointly produced by Kavya Film Company and Ann Mega Media. It features Asif Ali and Anaswara Rajan in lead roles, alongside Mammootty, Manoj K. Jayan, Siddique, Jagadish, Saikumar, Harisree Ashokan, and Indrans.
Following the success of The Priest (2021), director Jofin T. Chacko announced his next project on May 3, 2024, with Asif Ali, Anaswara Rajan, Zarin Shihab, and Manoj K. Jayan. The film, scripted by John Manthrikal and based on a story by Ramu Sunil, was officially titled Rekhachithram on August 13, 2024, with the tagline “An Alternate History.” The supporting cast includes Siddique, Indrans, Bhama Arun, Megha Thomas, Nishanth Sagar, Harisree Ashokan, Shrikant Murali, Sudhi Koppa, Priyanka, Jagadish, Saikumar, Nandu, Vijay Menon, T.G. Ravi, Sreejith Ravi, and Pauly Wilson.
The film boasts a strong technical team, with Appu Prabhakar handling cinematography, Shameer Muhammed as the editor, and Mujeeb Majeed composing the music after Rahul Raj, who was initially announced, opted out.
Filming began on May 3, 2024, in Fort Kochi and concluded on July 15, 2024. Upon its release, Rekhachithram garnered positive reviews from critics and audiences, becoming the highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2025. It amassed over ₹55 crore worldwide, marking another box office success for Asif Ali after Kishkindha Kaandam.
