My Melbourne is an anthology film that weaves together four compelling stories centered on identity and belonging, inspired by real-life events in Melbourne, Australia. The film explores themes of diversity, sexuality, gender, disability, and race, with each segment helmed by acclaimed Indian filmmakers Onir, Rima Das, Imtiaz Ali, and Kabir Khan.
Produced by Mitu Bhowmick Lange, who also directs the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, My Melbourne is a collaborative Indo-Australian project. It is backed by Mind Blowing Films in association with VicScreen and Screen Australia. The film features a multilingual script, incorporating English, Bengali, Hindi, Dari, and Auslan.
Filmed entirely on location in Melbourne, the movie brings an authentic representation of the city’s multicultural landscape. Afghan singer Aryana Sayeed lends her voice to the film’s title track, Setera.
Minister for Creative Industries, Colin William Brooks, described the film as “a celebration of our city, our screen industry, and the many cultures and diverse communities that call our state home.”
