Storyline
Lalit, an aspiring boxer, is having an affair with the boss of a crime syndicate, Rani. As he aspires to win an MMA title, a young widow named Phuchki wants revenge from Lalit and Rani for murdering her husband.
About Liger Movie
Liger – Saala Crossbreed is an Indian sports action drama film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu, the film is produced by Dharma Productions and Puri Connects. It stars Vijay Deverakonda in a dual role as a father and son, portraying the titular MMA fighter Liger, who has a stammering problem. Ananya Panday plays his love interest, with Ramya Krishna and Ronit Roy in pivotal roles. The film also features American boxer Mike Tyson in an extended cameo, marking his debut in Indian cinema.
Vijay Deverakonda underwent an intense physical transformation for his role and trained in martial arts in Thailand. Initially, Janhvi Kapoor was approached for the female lead but declined due to scheduling conflicts, leading to Ananya Panday’s casting. The film’s score is composed by Mani Sharma, with additional compositions by Tanishk Bagchi.
Filming commenced on 20 January 2020 in Mumbai under the tentative title Fighter. After completing 40 days of shooting, production was halted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming resumed in February 2021, with subsequent schedules in Hyderabad. A second delay occurred in April 2021 due to India’s second COVID-19 wave, but production resumed in September 2021. The team traveled to Las Vegas in November 2021 to shoot scenes with Mike Tyson. Filming wrapped up in February 2022.
