About Downton Abbey 3 Movie

This film serves as the third installment in the Downton Abbey franchise and a sequel to Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022). The entire Downton Abbey film series is based on the television show of the same name, created by Julian Fellowes, who also wrote the screenplay.

The first film, Downton Abbey, was released in 2019, followed by its sequel, Downton Abbey: A New Era, in 2022. Both films were successful and received positive reviews from both critics and audiences.

In March 2024, Imelda Staunton, who plays Maud, confirmed that a third and final movie was in development, with the main cast set to return.

Most of the original cast from the franchise, who also appeared in the first two films, will be returning. Paul Giamatti will reprise his role as Harold Levinson from the TV series, while Dominic West returns as Guy Dexter from the second film. Additionally, new cast members include Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan.

Filming started on May 13, 2024, and was completed by August.
