Anjila Storyline
The movie “Anjila” is based on the real-life story of Anjila Tumbapo Subba, the captain and number one goalkeeper of Nepal’s national women’s football team. The film showcases her journey from being confined within her home to becoming the team captain, highlighting her struggles and determination .Anjila herself plays the lead role, with Dayahang Rai and Srijana Subba portraying her parents The movie emphasizes the importance of perseverance and the belief that with determination, nothing is impossible.
About Anjila Movie
Anjila is a Nepali biographical sports drama film directed by Milan Chams and written by Pradeep Bhardwaj, Yam Thapa, and Giriraj Ghimire. The film’s score was composed by Alish Karki, while the cinematography was done by Bibik Lama, and the editing was handled by Milan Shrestha.
It is inspired by the life of Anjila Tumbapo Subba, a Nepalese women’s national football team goalkeeper. In a surprising move, Anjila plays herself in the lead role. The film also features Dayahang Rai, Srijana Subba, Maotse Gurung, Bijay Baral, Buddhi Tamang, Sunil Thapa, Manju Shrestha, and Suraj Tamu in key roles.
The filming took place in Anjila Tumbapo Subba’s hometown, Aaitabare of Suryodaya Municipality, Ilam, and certain places in Jhapa and Kathmandu.
The first look poster was revealed on March 8, 2024, followed by the teaser release on February 11, 2025.
