About Thudarum Movie
Thudarum is an upcoming Malayalam crime drama film starring Mohanlal and Shobana in the lead roles. The film is directed by Tharun Moorthy and produced by M. Renjith under the banner of Rejaputhra Visual Media.
The film was formally announced by Mohanlal in mid-March 2024 and would be directed by Tharun Moorthy. The film had been working with the title L360, as it would be the 360th film of Mohanlal.
There were rumors at first linking Thudarum with Benz Vasu, Mohanlal’s never-realized venture, written by Sunil with G. Prajith in place as director. Moorthy clarified that Thudarum is a completely different project built from scratch on the strength of a concept with a character and event provided by the production unit. The script was rewritten five times before finalization.
Tharun Moorthy initially approached Jyothika after viewing Kaathal: The Core (2023) and read out the script to her. She was later replaced by Shobana, marking her reunion with Mohanlal after a 15-year gap, having previously worked together in numerous films.
Principal photography began on April 22, 2024, with Mohanlal and Shobana joining the shoot on the same day. Ranni and Thodupuzha were the core locations of the film, and the initial round of shooting took place at Kaloor East, Thodupuzha. After 70 days of shooting, production paused for a scheduled break on July 5, 2024.
Shooting was to resume once Mohanlal completed his work for L2: Empuraan, with some 20–25 days of shooting remaining for Thudarum. The shooting ended in Thodupuzha on November 1, 2024, after 99 days of shooting. The title of the movie was released later that month.
