About The Running Man Movie
The Running Man is an upcoming science fiction action thriller film directed by Edgar Wright, based on the 1982 novel of the same name by Stephen King. It is the second adaptation of the book following the 1987 film.
The film stars Glen Powell, Katy O’Brian, Daniel Ezra, Karl Glusman, Josh Brolin, Lee Pace, Jayme Lawson, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, William H. Macy, David Zayas, Sean Hayes, and Colman Domingo.
In 2017, Edgar Wright expressed his desire on Twitter to remake the 1987 film The Running Man, which was originally adapted from Stephen King’s novel. In February 2021, Paramount Pictures officially announced that a new film based on the novel was in development. The new adaptation was not a remake of the original film but a “much more faithful” adaptation of the source material.
Before Glen Powell was cast in the lead role, actors Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth were either in talks with director Edgar Wright or considered for the part.
This marks the second collaboration between Edgar Wright, Michael Cera, and Michael Bacall, following their work on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010).
Principal photography started in the United Kingdom on November 4, 2024, with filming taking place in London and a week-long shoot at Wembley Stadium for an action sequence. The production is expected to wrap up in March 2025. The film is being financed by Domain Entertainment.
