Storyline
A woman was imprisoned as a serial killer a long time ago. The story unfolds as someone begins committing a series of murders imitating her.
About The Mantis: Original Sin TV Series
The Mantis: Original Sin (Korean: 사마귀) is an upcoming South Korean mystery-thriller-police procedural television series written by Lee Young-jong and directed by Byun Young-joo based on the 2017 TF1 series La Mante. Go Hyun-jung and Jang Dong-yoon will portray the lead roles.
The eight-episode drama is written by Lee Young-jong and directed by Byun Young-joo. It is produced by Studio S and Mega Monster and Merry Christmas for SBS TV.
The Mantis: Original Sin will be Lee’s debut television series. He had written the script for the films Flu (2013), The Witness (2018) and 12.12: The Day (2023).
On 14 November 2023, the production crew announced that Go Hyun-jung was offered the main role for the series. On 23 July 2024, Go and Jang Dong-yoon were confirmed to play the lead roles.
Ji Chang-wook was approached for Cha Soo-yeol’s role but declined it because of a scheduling conflict.
Kim Bo-ra previously portrayed the role of Ha Seol in the 2024 MBC TV Friday-Saturday drama Black Out, director Byun Young-joo’s first television series.
Principal photography began in August 2024. Shooting began in October 2024 and was to finish in February 2025.
There was a special teaser for the series aired on December 21, 2024 during the 2024 SBS Drama Awards.
