Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Season 2) Storyline
STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS Season 2 continues the journey following Captain Pike, Science Officer Spock and Number One in the years before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.
About Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Season 2) TV Series
The second season of the American television series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds follows Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the starship Enterprise in the 23rd century as they explore new worlds and carry out missions throughout the galaxy during the decade before Star Trek: The Original Series.
The season was produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout, Weed Road Pictures, H M R X Productions, and Roddenberry Entertainment, with Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers serving as showrunners.
Along with Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, and Babs Olusanmokun, the main cast members are Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, and Rebecca Romijn as Pike, Spock, and Number One, respectively. Before the premiere of the first season, Strange New Worlds’ second season was confirmed in January 2022, and the show was filmed from February to July 2022 at CBS Stages Canada in Mississauga, Ontario.
Inspired by The Original Series, the showrunners carried over the episodic storytelling style of the first season, giving each episode a distinct genre and tone. This includes the first musical episode of the Star Trek franchise, which has original songs by Kay Hanley and Tom Polce, as well as a crossover episode with the animated comedy series Star Trek: Lower Decks. Throughout the season, a few of the main performers and a few guest stars play younger versions of characters from The Original Series.
A third season was ordered in March 2023.
