Roofman Storyline

The film is based on the true story of escaped convict Jeffrey Manchester, who secretly lived on the loading dock of a Toys “R” Us while evading capture. During this time, he regularly attended Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC, where he befriended parishioners and minister Ron Smith—none of whom realized he was a fugitive. Roofman brings this unbelievable true story to life on screen.

About Roofman Movie

Roofman is an upcoming American crime drama film directed by Derek Cianfrance, who co-wrote the script with Kirt Gunn. The film Channing Tatum, Kirsten Dunst, Ben Mendelsohn, Peter Dinklage, Uzo Aduba, Juno Temple, Emory Cohen and LaKeith Stanfield.

The film tells the story of Jeffrey Manchester, the rooftop robber, portrayed by Channing Tatum, and his time on the run as he evaded capture.

This project reunites Ben Mendelsohn, Emory Cohen, and director Derek Cianfrance, who previously collaborated on The Place Beyond the Pines (2012). However, in that film, Mendelsohn and Cohen did not share any scenes together.

The project was officially announced in February 2024. Principal photography began on October 24, 2024, in Gastonia, North Carolina, and wrapped up on December 12, 2024. Filming took place at various locations, including Freedom Park, Mecklenburg County Jail North, and the Gaston County Courthouse.

In October 2024, Qatari state-owned Miramax secured the distribution rights for the project. Its minority partner, Paramount Pictures, will handle distribution in the United States and select international markets.

Roofman Release Date

Roofman will be released in the United States on October 3, 2025, by Paramount Pictures.
