Radhe Shyam Storyline

The film is a musical love story set in the backdrop of Europe in the 1970s. It weaves in a heartwarming story that questions the foundations of Love, Human Nature, Science, Spirituality, and Philosophy through a musical drama. It is the story of two individuals who are poles apart in terms of their ideologies, their belief systems, and the way they perceive life. It is the story of Vikramaditya and Prerna who are two diversified individuals. Vikram Aditya is the epitome of pure joy and innocence who believes in the language of stars, fate and destiny and lives every moment with vibrancy and passion. He is flirtatious with women, his charm is infectious and his charisma is captivating. Women adore him. He leads a life free of any commitments and believes in living each day as it comes. He is spontaneous, adventurous, and happy-go-lucky. Prerna is someone who is a nonbeliever and believes more in science than in destiny and fate. She is believed to be rude sometimes to people around her, which is only an attempt to veil her real persona. What happens when their paths cross forms the crux of the story.

About Radhe Shyam Movie

Radhe Shyam is an Indian period romantic fantasy drama film written and directed by Radha Krishna Kumar. The film, produced by UV Creations and T-Series, was shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi. It stars Prabhas and Pooja Hegde, with an ensemble cast including Bhagyashree, Sathyaraj, Krishnam Raju, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Jayaram, Jagapathi Babu, Priyadarshi Pullikonda, Sachin Khedekar, and Murali Sharma.

The story was originally conceived by director Chandra Sekhar Yeleti, who worked with his assistant Radha Krishna Kumar. After failing to find a conclusion, the idea was dropped, but Kumar revisited the script years later and worked on it for 18 years to give it a proper ending. The script was then narrated to Prabhas during the filming of Baahubali (2015–17), and he was impressed enough to sign up for the project.

Originally set in a hill station in India, the story was moved to Europe based on Prabhas’ suggestion. The film, set in the 1970s, follows Vikramaditya, a palmist character inspired by the real-life European palmist Cheiro.

The film was officially launched on 5 September 2018 under the working title Prabhas 20. Pooja Hegde was cast as the female lead, and veteran actress Bhagyashree was given a crucial role. The title Radhe Shyam was finalized after several alternatives, symbolizing the love between Hindu god Krishna and goddess Radha.

Principal photography began on 6 October 2018, with shooting locations in Hyderabad, Turin (Italy), and Georgia. Production was halted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but resumed in October 2020 in Italy. Additional scenes were shot in Hyderabad and London. The final schedule began in June 2021, with filming completed on 28 July 2021.

Radhe Shyam was released on 11 March 2022, after several postponements due to the pandemic. The film was released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. It grossed ₹210 crore in pre-release business from the sale of theatrical rights and secured ₹200 crore from satellite and digital rights. The film began streaming on Amazon Prime Video on 1 April 2022 in multiple languages, and the Hindi version became available on Netflix and ZEE5 after 3 May 2022.
