About Next Level Chef (Season 1) TV Series
Next Level Chef season one, is an American competitive reality television series. Gordon Ramsay hosted the season and served as a mentor, along with mentors Nyesha Arrington and Richard Blais.
The series was first ordered on May 17, 2021. On October 19, 2021, it was announced that the season would premiere on January 2, 2022, before moving to its regular timeslot on January 5, 2022. A new episode was also aired on January 30, following the NFC Championship Game between the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers.
Format
Chefs compete in a series of cooking challenges, divided into three teams under the guidance of Ramsay, Arrington, and Blais. Each team is assigned to cook in one of three kitchens stacked on top of each other. In the first season, chefs are divided into three groups and assigned a mentor and kitchen. In the second season, mentors pick their chefs before the first challenge, and kitchen assignments are based on the results from the challenges. In the third season, 24 chefs are divided evenly among professional, home, and social media types.
Before each challenge, a platform stocked with ingredients is lowered through the structure from top to bottom. Chefs have 30 seconds to collect items, including one protein each, and 45 minutes to prepare, cook, and plate their dishes. The chef whose dish is judged the best overall wins immunity from elimination for their entire team. The mentors of the other two teams choose one of their own members for a 30-minute head-to-head challenge on the top level. The winning team’s mentor casts the tiebreaking vote if they disagree.
