About Namib TV Series

Namib (Korean: 나미브) is a South Korean slice of life workplace television series written by Eom Sung-min, co-directed by Han Sang-jae and Kang Min-gu, and starring Go Hyun-jung, Ryeoun, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Lee Jin-woo.

In February 2024, Jung Da-won, who handled Miss & Mrs. Cops (2019), and Eom Sung-min, who penned Default (2018), were reported to work together while SLL and Studio Wooyoungsoo produced jointly for the series. The Genie TV original lineup for the series was announced on April 29 during the 2024 KT Group Media Day at Novotel Ambassador in Dongdaemun District, Seoul and the title of the series was temporarily changed to Starry Night (Korean: 별이 빛나는 밤; RR: Byeori binnaneun bam) and will be broadcast on ENA’s Monday–Tuesday timeslot. PD Han Sang-jae, who worked on Ugly Miss Young-ae seasons 8–17 (2011–2019) and Cold Blooded Intern, replaced Jung to direct the series. On November 7.

It was also reported that director Kang Min-gu would be directing as well. At the December 16 press conference, director Kang told the press that there were several working titles for the series during planning stages but decided on “Namib” as the meaning was beautiful and suited the character.

On February 19, 2024, Go Hyun-jung was reported to have been cast to play in the series and is considering it currently. The next day, Ryeoun was reported to be positively considering to appear in the drama. On February 22, Song Sae-byeok was reported to have been cast for the series. On August 8, Go and Ryeoun and Yoon Sang-hyun, a replacement for Song, and Lee Jin-woo has confirmed their appearance officially.

The main Principal photography took place over five months between July and December 2024.

Main

• Go Hyun-jung as Kang Soo-hyun
  A star producer who raises idols based on her own philosophy and intuition. She was fired from her role as co-CEO of Pandora Entertainment. Despite being kicked out, she continues to fight to take responsibility for her disabled son.
• Ryeoun as Yoo Jin-woo
  A long-time trainee at Soo-hyun’s company. After 10 years of struggle due to family debt and a difficult past, he’s about to give up on his dream—until Soo-hyun promises to make him a star.
• Yoon Sang-hyun as Shim Jun-seok
  A former music producer who became a full-time house husband after his son’s accident. Encouraged by his wife’s persistence, he returns to the industry and becomes Jin-woo’s producer.
• Lee Jin-woo as Shim Jin-woo
  The son of Soo-hyun and Jun-seok, who lost his hearing in a car accident. Though he’s the source of much worry, he quietly endures bullying at school.

  A once-promising agency trainee who now works as a manager at an entertainment establishment after being dropped.
• Kim Hyun-sook as Hong Jung-hwa
  Soo-hyun’s best friend and the first singer she and Jun-seok ever produced. A former star now running an Italian restaurant, she supports Soo-hyun and becomes Jin-woo’s vocal trainer.
• Choi Yu-ju as Kyung Ha-na
  A passionate trainee in her late 20s who still dreams of debuting as a singer, confident and determined despite her age.

Namib Storyline

Kang Soo-hyun, a star producer who trains idols gets fired from her position as co-CEO of Pandora Entertainment. She then approaches a long-term male trainee named Yoo Jin-woo with malicious intentions, but gradually shows sincerity and helps him achieve his dream.
