The story of American table tennis legend Marty Reisman.

About Marty Supreme Movie

In July 2024, Timothée Chalamet came on board to star in Marty Supreme, a film directed by Josh Safdie, who wrote the script with Ronald Bronstein. The film was inspired by professional table tennis player Marty Reisman, though “sources close to the production” called the story “a fictionalized original, rather than a biopic”.

Cast members were announced in the following months. Chalamet revealed that Safdie encouraged him to do some of his own stunts in the movie. The director also wanted Chalamet’s eyes to look smaller, so he made him wear prescription glasses with contact lenses underneath, which he said “fucked up” his vision temporarily. For the ping pong scenes Chalamet was coached by former players Diego Schaaf and Wei Wang.

Principal photography began in New York City on September 23, 2024, according to On Location Vacations, with official set photos being released on September 30 of Chalamet in Manhattan. Production wrapped on December 5. According to Deadline Hollywood, the budget is $70 million, surpassing Civil War (2024; $50 million) as A24’s most expensive film.
