About Love Yourself: Her Album
Love Yourself: Her is the fifth extended play (EP) by South Korean boy group BTS, released on September 18, 2017, by Big Hit Entertainment. The EP, available in four versions, contains nine tracks, with “DNA” as its lead single.
This album marked the first release following BTS’s new “brand identity” reveal on July 4, 2017, which included a simplified logo. Upon release, the “DNA” music video garnered 21 million views in 24 hours, becoming the first K-pop group music video to achieve such a feat.
Musically, Love Yourself: Her explores both electro-pop and hip-hop elements. The first half of the album features dance tracks that highlight the group’s vocals, while the second half focuses on powerful rap performances. The album is part of the Love Yourself series, which follows the narrative of “beginning, development, turn, and conclusion” (기승전결). The EP represents the “承” or “development” phase of this story, exploring the joy and happiness of falling in love. RM has described it as a significant turning point in BTS’s career.
