Kingston Storyline

The coast of Thoovathur in Thoothukudi district has been banned from fishing, despite a hamlet living by the coast whose main source of income is from the sea. Rumour has it that the sea is cursed, and the fishermen who venture out into the waters are never to return. Kingston is a part of the fisherfolks, who is the handyman of Thomas, the kingpin of the smuggling trade of the region. Things get complicated when Kingston gets to know that he is used to smuggling drugs instead of sea cucumbers and decides to venture out into the haunted sea himself, only to unearth dark secrets of the past.

About Kingston Movie

Kingston is a Tamil sea fantasy action adventure horror film written and directed by Kamal Prakash. The film stars G V Prakash Kumar, Dhivyabharathi, Chetan, Azhagam Perumaal, Elango Kumaravel, Sabumon Abdusamad, Antony, Arunachaleswaran, and Rajesh Balachandiran.

In early October 2023, it was reported that music composer-turned-actor G. V. Prakash Kumar would take on the role of producer for his 25th film as a lead actor. He would be producing the film with an estimated budget of ₹20 crore (US$2.3 million) in association with Zee Studios.

The film was officially announced on October 9, 2023, under the tentative title GV 25, marking G. V. Prakash Kumar’s 25th film as a lead actor. The official title, Kingston, was announced two days later. Principal photography began with the first schedule on 5 October 2023 at a film studio in Chennai.

The film’s first look poster was revealed on October 10, 2023, and the official teaser was released on January 9, 2025. The theatrical trailer for the film was launched on February 27, 2025.

The audio rights were acquired by Saregama, and the first single, “Raasa Raasa,” was released on January 31, 2025.

Kingston Movie Release Date

Kingston was released in theatres on 7 March 2025. Apart from Tamil, it is also released in Hindi and Telugu languages. The film mixed reviews from critics. The satellite and digital rights of the film were acquired by ZEE5 and Zee Tamil.
