About Eddington Movie
Eddington is an upcoming American contemporary Western film written and directed by Ari Aster, marking his directorial debut in the Western genre. According to Aster, he “tried to make Eddington for about five years before deciding to make Hereditary (2018) and Midsommar (2019) first.”
In 2023, while promoting his third film, Beau Is Afraid, Aster revealed that his next project would likely be a Western and that he had updated the story to take place during the COVID-19 pandemic. Emma Stone and Christopher Abbott were initially attached to star in the film as of January 2023. This also marks Joaquin Phoenix’s second collaboration with Ari Aster after Beau Is Afraid (2023).
Christopher Abbott was originally cast as Vernon Jefferson Peak but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts with Wolf Man (2025). He was later replaced by Austin Butler.
Filming took place from March through May 2024 in Albuquerque and Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
