Early Life & Education

Nikhita Thapa was born on February 3, 1993, in Kurseong, India. Although born there, she frequently moved due to her father, Bhuwanesh Thapa, being a colonel in the Indian Army.
A bright student from an early age, she completed her schooling at a local school in Kurseong and later pursued a commerce degree at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai, India.
Career
Born and raised in India, Nikhita Thapa developed a passion for music from a very young age. Coming from a musically inclined family, she was greatly influenced by her father, a skilled instrumentalist, who nurtured her early exposure to music. Encouraged by her parents and family members, she actively pursued her interest in singing.
Her enthusiasm for music was evident from childhood, whether it was singing nursery rhymes or school prayers. At just three and a half years old, she made her first stage appearance at her school’s annual function, performing a nursery rhyme.
Nikhita considers her father her musical inspiration and first guru, while her mother, Nilima Thapa, remains her role model for strength and resilience. She began her formal music training under Pt. Johri in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, but had to discontinue due to her father’s job transfers.
After relocating to Mumbai, she balanced both music and academics, completing seven years of formal musical training alongside her commerce degree. She pursued vocal training at Bhatkhande Sangeet Shikshapeeth under the guidance of Mrs. Bhavna Dixit and Pt. Dhruba Ghosh.
During a visit to her relatives in Kathmandu, she got the opportunity to sing Jati Chan for the Nepali film 3 Lovers, with lyrics by Kishore Thapa and music by Rajan Ishan. The song’s success led renowned Nepali lyricist Dinesh Adhikari to encourage her to release an album.
After a year and a half of dedication and hard work, she launched her debut album, NIKHITA, featuring seven songs, all penned by Dinesh Adhikari.
