Big Nate Storyline

Big Nate follows the adventures and misadventures of Nate Wright, a semi-incompetent, spirited, and rebellious sixth-grader. His friend group includes Francis, Teddy, Chad, and Dee Dee. Nate hates social studies teacher Mrs. Godfrey, whom he considers his nemesis and calls her names like “the school’s Godzilla”, and tends to run afoul of her, the firm Principal Nichols, and the aging science teacher Mr. Galvin. At home, Nate lives with his single father Martin and older sister Ellen.

About Big Nate TV Series

  • Big Nate is an American animated television series developed by Mitch Watson, based on the comic strip and book series by Lincoln Peirce.
  • Executive producers are Mitch Watson and John Cohen.
  • In 1991, Peanuts executive producer Lee Mendelson purchased the option to create a Big Nate animated series for NBC’s Saturday-morning lineup. However, the day after finalizing the deal, NBC canceled all Saturday-morning cartoons, leaving the project in development hell.
  • On February 19, 2020, Nickelodeon announced a new animated Big Nate series, with executive vice president Ramsey Ann Naito expressing long-standing interest in adapting the books.
  • On March 24, 2022, Nickelodeon renewed the series for a second season with 10 episodes.
  • On August 3, 2022, an additional 10 episodes were ordered for season two.
  • On June 22, 2023, it was announced that season two would premiere on July 7, 2023.

The series was originally planned to premiere on Nickelodeon in September 2021. However, in December 2021, with the casting, it was announced that it would premiere on Paramount+ in early 2022, later specified as February 17. On August 3, 2022, it was announced that nine new episodes would be released on Paramount+ on August 19, 2022. The series began airing on Nickelodeon on September 5, 2022.

To remedy Nate’s subpar birthday celebrations, Martin lets Nate borrow his credit card with rules that may have been “open to interpretation.” After a day of limitless fun, Nate and his friends must pay off their debt.

Nate has decided this Valentine’s Day, he will finally profess his love for his dream girl in the form of a grand gesture, but the day of love quickly turns into a nightmare after Nate’s “gift” gives the entire school food poisoning.

When Nate is paired with Jenny on a school project, he hopes to prove his awesomeness to her, but his cat phobia threatens to destroy his cool. Meanwhile, Ellen sets out to cure Martin of a deeply ingrained phobia of his own.
