Aghathiyaa Storyline

Aghathiyan an struggling art director who is also facing the challenge of finding ways and means of treating his mother who is suffering from cancer, stumbles upon an old movie camera which opens the doors to the era of 1940s. Absolutely unaware of the dangers which he and his fiance Veena, likely to encounter, they are forced to embark upon a mystery journey that would lead them to unravel the secrets of the past and the buried truth while facing the wrath of the notorious ghost of the dictator French Dy, a governor who ruled Pondicherry at that time.

About Aghathiyaa Movie

Aghathiyaa (also marketed as Aghathiyaa: Angels vs Devil) is a Tamil period horror thriller action comedy film written and directed by Pa. Vijay. The film features Jiiva, Arjun Sarja, and Raashii Khanna in lead roles, with Edward Sonnenblick, Matylda, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Redin Kingsley, Shah Ra, Radha Ravi, Rohini, Charle, Indraja Shankar, and others in supporting roles.

Produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under Vels Film International and co-produced by Aneesh Arjun Dev of Wam India, the film’s music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, with cinematography by Deepak Kumar Padhy and editing by San Lokesh.

The project originated in mid-May 2020 when Pa. Vijay announced Methavi, a horror thriller starring Jiiva, Arjun Sarja, and Raashii Khanna, produced by S. Raja of Makkal Arasan Pictures. Although Methavi was meant to mark Pa. Vijay’s first directorial collaboration with Yuvan Shankar Raja, the project faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the untimely death of a Russian actress playing a key role. By late March 2023, Vels Film International took over the project, but it was eventually shelved.

Later, in March 2023, Pa. Vijay confirmed his collaboration on a new period drama while retaining much of Methavi‘s cast and crew. On 7 October 2024, Vels Film International unveiled the film’s first look poster, announcing the title Aghathiyaa. The film features Jiiva and Raashii Khanna in lead roles, alongside Arjun Sarja and Edward Sonnenblick in pivotal roles, with Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Redin Kingsley, and others in supporting parts.

The film boasts stunt choreography by K. Ganesh and dance choreography by Sridhar. Principal photography was planned to take place at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, with additional sequences shot in Ooty and Kodaikanal.
