Badhaai Do is a Hindi comedy-drama film directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni. Produced by Junglee Pictures, it is a spiritual sequel to Badhaai Ho (2018).[4] Depicting a couple in a lavender marriage, it stars Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar with Gulshan Devaiah, Chum Darang, Sheeba Chaddha and Seema Pahwa in supporting roles.

The film was officially announced in March 2020. The first schedule was wrapped on 25 February. The film was wrapped up on 6 March 2021.

The film was theatrically released on 11 February 2022. Though commercially unsuccessful, the film garnered widespread critical acclaim and accolades. At the 68th Filmfare Awards, it was the second biggest awardee with six wins: Best Film (Critics), Best Actor (Rao), Best Actress (Critics) (Pednekar), Best Supporting Actress (Chaddha), Best Story and Best Screenplay.

Badhaai Do Storyline:

Shardul Thakur (Rajkummar Rao), a police officer posted to Dehradhun, a police station for women. He is under constant pressure from his family to get married, but he isn’t too keen on the idea because he’s gay. Sumi (Bhumi Pednekar) works as a PE (Phys Ed) teacher in a high school. She, too, is being pressured by her family to get married but she is lesbian. She registers on a dating app where she ‘meets’ an attractive woman and they chat for a while. Upon meeting ‘her’, she finds that a person is actually a man with a fake account. He tries to blackmail Sumi, saying that he will expose her to her family if she doesn’t agree to sleep with him. She goes to the police with her complaint. The person who takes down her details is Shardul. When he guesses that Sumi is a lesbian, he proposes a plan: they will get married to get their families off their back. Problems arise, though, when their families continue to meddle in their lives and pressure them to have children.
