About Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire Movie
Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire is a Telugu epic action film written and directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur. It stars Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, with a supporting cast that includes Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Tinnu Anand, Easwari Rao, Sriya Reddy and Ramachandra Raju.
Salaar was announced in December 2020. Principal photography began on 29 January 2021 near Godavarikhani, Telangana.
The film marks the first collaboration between director Prashanth Neel and Prabhas.
In regard to his portrayal, Prabhas expressed: “My character is extremely violent, so this is something I haven’t really done before.”
Prithviraj Sukumaran makes a comeback to Telugu cinema after a hiatus of 12 years with the movie “Salaar”.
The film’s initial story was pitched from Neel’s debut film Ugramm (2014) and is the maiden part of a two-part film.
It was officially announced in December 2020 under the title Salaar, however, in July 2023, the official title was announced as Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire.
The teaser of the film was released on 6 July 2023 at 5:12 AM IST with a runtime of 1 minute 46 seconds. The teaser broke all records clocking more than 80 million views in 19 hours, breaking the record of K.G.F Chapter 2’s teaser.
Makers of Salaar Part 1 – Ceasefire reportedly employed Dark Centric Theme (DCT) technology to shoot the film, making it the first Indian film to do so. As a result the film’s lighting pattern and color palette would be darker in color.
The film received an A (adults only) certification from the Central Board of Film Certification on account of intense action sequences and violence. The makers expected a U/A (parental guidance) classification but were unwilling to make cuts, and since the board had updated their rules, the makers accepted the adult classification.
Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire earned ₹95 crore (US$12 million) domestically on the first day while it collected a total of ₹178.7 crore (US$22 million) worldwide. It received generally mixed to positive reviews from critics and emerged as the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2023, third highest-grossing Telugu film of all time, fourth highest-grossing Indian film of 2023, and 11th highest-grossing Indian film of all time. It has grossed over ₹715 crore (US$90 million) worldwide against a ₹270 crore (US$34 million) budget within the initial 18 days of release.
The sequel of the film titled Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryanga Parvam is in development.
