About Prem Geet 2 Movie
Prem Geet 2 is a Nepali romantic musical comedy-drama film directed by Ram Sharan Pathak, starring Pradeep Khadka and Aaslesha Thakuri in the lead roles. It serves as the sequel to Prem Geet (2016).
Following the success of the first film, the director and producer announced the production of a sequel. Director Ram Sharan Pathak expressed, “The film is a love story, and we are challenged to make it better than the original. We will be working hard to achieve that.” Pradeep Khadka and Aaslesha Thakuri confirmed their roles in the lead, and the film was initially expected to release in September 2017.
Originally, Puja Sharma was set to play the role of Geet, but she declined. Despite some doubts about the film’s success at the box office, the director remained optimistic, stating, “I’ve done my best in the film, so if it fails, I won’t mind.”
Filming for Prem Geet 2 began on 12 December, with scenes shot in Nepal, Thailand, and Myanmar.
To promote the film, the director launched a competition for the best cover of the song “Kahani Yo Prem Geetko.” The winners, Neeta Thapa Magar and Badal Thapa, were awarded one lakh each on the 51st day after the film’s release.
Some images from Prem Geet 2 were leaked by Nepali actress Barsha Raut, causing disappointment for the director. The producer of the film remarked, “The images are from crucial moments in the film, which hold significant suspense. We are saddened by this incident.” One of the leaked images featured a pivotal fight scene of the film.
During the film’s promotion, Aaslesha Thakuri experienced an allegedly staged wardrobe malfunction while dancing, which led to emotional interviews where she was seen crying.
The trailer for the film was released on 18 June 2017. The trailer, though receiving more dislikes than likes, became the #1 trending video in Nepal, sparking speculations that the dislikes were bought.
Prem Geet 2 became one of the highest-grossing Nepali films of 2017, earning over रु8.5 crore (approximately $1.16M as of 2020), making it the third-highest-grossing Nepali film of the year.
