About Karathey Babu Movie
Karathey Babu is an upcoming Tamil political action thriller film directed by Ganesh K. Babu, who co-wrote the script with Rathna Kumar and Bakkiyam Sankar. The film stars Ravi Mohan in the lead role, alongside Shakthi Vasudevan, Daudee S Jiwal in her acting debut, as well as veteran actors Nassar and K.S. Ravikumar.
Initially, the film was tentatively titled Production No. 3, with Jiiva rumored to play the lead role. However, in early 2024, reports suggested that Dhruv Vikram had been cast as the lead. By July, it was confirmed that director Ganesh would instead collaborate with Ravi Mohan for the project.
The film was officially announced on October 4, 2024, under the tentative title #JR34, marking Ravi Mohan’s 34th film as a lead actor. On January 29, 2025, the official title Karathey Babu was revealed. Screen Scene Media Entertainment is producing the film, marking its third collaboration with Ravi Mohan after Agilan (2023) and Brother (2024).
Principal photography began on December 14, 2024. The title reveal teaser was released on January 29, 2025, across various social media platforms.
