About Costao Movie
Costao is a Hindi biographical drama film based on the life of Costao Fernandes, a legendary customs officer who was later the most wanted person, accused of murder. Nawazuddin Siddiqui portrays the titular role. The film is directed by debutant Sejal Shah and written by Bhavesh Mandalia and Meghna Srivastava.
The cast also includes Priya Bapat, Kishor Kumar Huli, Gagan Dev Riar, Hussain Dalal, among others. It is produced under the banners of Bhanushali Studios Limited and Bombay Fables Motion Pictures, with background music composed by Ketan Sodha.
The film was officially announced on October 25, 2023, under the tentative title Production No. 8. Filming began the same day with a puja ceremony. The first look poster was unveiled on April 11, 2025, by Bombay Fables Motion Pictures, featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a Customs Officer uniform, alongside the tagline: “Before they called him a hero, they called him guilty. #Costao took on Goa’s smuggling network with nothing but grit and guts.”
