Storyline
Season 1: The series follows thief-turned-rebel spy Cassian Andor during the five years that lead to the events of the two films, exploring how he becomes radicalized against the Galactic Empire and how the wider Rebel Alliance is formed.
Season 2: The second season of Andor takes place as the horizon of war draws near and Cassian becomes a key player in the Rebel Alliance. Everyone will be tested and, as the stakes rise, the betrayals, sacrifices, and conflicting agendas will become profound. Rife with political intrigue and danger, the series is a prequel to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” which portrayed a heroic band of rebels who steal the plans to the Empire’s weapon of mass destruction—The Death Star—setting the stage for the events of the original 1977 film. “Andor” sets the clock back five years from the events of “Rogue One” to tell the story of the film’s hero, Cassian Andor, and his transformation from a disinterested, cynical nobody into a rebel hero on his way to an epic destiny.
About Andor TV Series
Andor is an American science fiction action-adventure television series created by Tony Gilroy for the streaming network Disney+. It is a part of the Star Wars franchise and a prequel to the 2016 movie Rogue One, which itself is a prequel to the 1977 film Star Wars.
Production on the first season took place from November 2020 to September 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Production on the second season began in November 2022 and resumed filming in early January 2024 and ended in February 2024.
The crew and cast would have to walk miles for hours just to arrive on a set for location shooting. As Diego Luna has said, when they were location shooting in Pitlochry, Scotland, they walked up a mountain for hours just to set up one shot.
The set built by the production team to represent Cassian’s hometown on Ferrix was so massive that Adria Arjona, who plays Bix Caleen in the series, actually got lost in it.
Late in season one Cassian is being forced to construct a series of machine devices. Towards the end of season one, the purpose of those machines will be revealed, setting up season two and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016).
