Amitabh Bachchan, popularly known as the “Shahenshah of Bollywood,” has firmly established himself as the highest tax-paying actor in the country for FY25. With a whopping tax payment of ₹120 crore against an earning of ₹350 crore, he has surpassed every other actor and provided something of a new benchmark in terms of financial discipline in the entertainment industry. His revenue streams are pretty diversified and include blockbuster films, big brand endorsements, and the likes of his current hosting for “Kaun Banega Crorepati”.

Bachchan rises to that much notable accomplishment because he has just paid his last installment of advance tax, amounting to ₹52.5 crore, on March 15, 2025. This considerable ‘increase’ in tax payment is 69% up from that amount last year, when he declared to have paid ₹71 crore. He has shown his charm and financial acumen keeping him unscathed within the industry, even at 82.

While Amitabh Bachchan heads the fray as the highest tax-salaried actor, various actors shell out high amounts in taxes to add up to Indian coffers. For example, Thalapathy Vijay paid about ₹80 crore, while Salman Khan contributed about ₹75 crore. Such figures serve to indicate the degree of success and civic responsibility these celebrities enjoy.

Shah Rukh Khan was leading the list last year, given that he paid tax of up to ₹92 crore. His contribution has decreased a bit to ₹84.17 crore in FY25, but Khan is still among the top tax-paying celebrities in India.
