Early Life & Education
Sajja Chaulagain was born in Kathmandu District on 19th Mangsir 2055 BS to parents Tanka Bahadur Chaulagain and Geeta Chaulagain. Although her family did not have a musical background, Sajja showed a natural talent for singing from an early age, with strong support from her parents. Throughout her school years, she took part in various singing competitions, earning multiple accolades for her performances.
Her father had traveled abroad for work in his youth, but due to health issues, he had to return to Nepal. With no stable source of income, the family faced financial difficulties. As a result, her mother later moved abroad to support the household.
Sajja studied at East Pole Higher Secondary School and was academically inclined. Her parents initially hoped she would become a doctor, but due to family circumstances, she could only study up to Grade 12.
Career
Sajja Chaulagain did not come from a musical background, but she had a natural talent for singing from a young age, with strong support from her parents. During her school years, she actively participated in numerous singing competitions, winning several of them.

While in college, she performed at various stages, lounges, and clubs in Kathmandu. Eventually, she left college to pursue music as a full-time career. Along with her college friends, she formed The Loading Band and became its lead vocalist.
Like her parents, Sajja initially planned to go abroad and even applied for a visa to Malta. However, due to delays in the visa process, she decided to audition for Nepal Idol Season 3, where she was selected, marking a turning point in her musical journey.
Journey Of Nepal Idol Season 3
Sajja Chaulagain participated in the Kathmandu open audition for Nepal Idol Season 3 and was selected after performing Sabin Rai’s song Timi Nai Hau. She went on to win multiple rounds, including the All-Round Base Camp (Theater Round), Camp 4 (Piano Round), and the Gala Round. However, the competition was halted on March 20, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After a temporary suspension, the show resumed on August 6, 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the program continued without a live audience.
Sajja Chaulagain won Season 3 of Nepal Idol, becoming the first female winner of the show. Prabin Bedwal was the runner-up during the finale, and Kiran Kumar Bhujel was the second runner-up.
