It is a science fiction adventure comedy-drama film, loosely based on the 2018 graphic novel of the same name by Simon Stålenhag. Announced in 2017, with Andy Muschietti. The Russo brothers (Anthony Russo and Joe Russo) later signed on to direct the film in December 2020.
Set in an alternate 1994, a young girl is approached by a robot who claims to know her missing brother, and with it, she sets out to find him. Screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Black Bag (Theaters – March 14, 2025)
It is a spy thriller film directed by Steven Soderbergh and written by David Koepp. It stars Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, Regé-Jean Page, Marisa Abela, Naomie Harris with Pierce Brosnan and Tom Burke.

Death of a Unicorn (Theaters – March 28, 2025)
A man and his teenage daughter accidentally crash into a unicorn while en route to a crisis management summit with his boss, Dell Leopold, and Leopold’s family. The Leopolds seize the unicorn, and their scientists discover that the creature is endowed with supernaturally curative properties, which the Leopolds seek to exploit. However, as they delve deeper into their research, they discover the deadly consequences of their actions, as the unicorn’s mate arrives and begins to hunt down and slaughter those involved in the exploitation of the dead animal.

The Accountant 2 (Theaters – April 25, 2025)
In June 2017, a sequel to The Accountant (2016) was announced to be in development, with Ben Affleck set to reprise his role and Bill Dubuque and Gavin O’Connor returning to write and direct, respectively. By February 2020, Affleck confirmed that developments were ongoing.
Jon Bernthal, J. K. Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson also reprise their roles from the previous film, with Daniella Pineda among the actors joining the cast.

Coming-of-age musical comedy-drama film set in 1977, the film draws inspiration from Virginia Beach’s Atlantis Apartments and the cast was seen in 1970s attire. On August 29, 2024, the original title of Atlantis was confirmed for the film. In November 2024, the film had been retitled to Golden.

Lilo & Stitch (Theaters – May 23, 2025)
A live-action/CGI remake of Disney’s 2002 animated film Lilo & Stitch. Science fiction comedy film directed by Dean Fleischer Camp and written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright. It will star Maia Kealoha as Lilo Pelekai, with Lilo & Stitch writer-director Chris Sanders reprising his voice role as Stitch. Sydney Agudong, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, Courtney B. Vance, and original cast members Tia Carrere, Amy Hill, and Jason Scott Lee will appear.
The film tells the story of “the bond formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, who is engineered to be a force of destruction. Pursuing aliens, social workers and the idea of the bond of family figure into the proceedings.”

It follows an eleven-year-old boy named Elio Solis (Kibreab) who accidentally becomes the intergalactic Ambassador of planet Earth after being beamed up to the Communiverse by aliens for making contact. How to Train Your Dragon (Theaters – June 13, 2025)
It is a live-action remake of DreamWorks Animation’s 2010 animated film of the same name, which itself was loosely based on the 2003 novel by Cressida Cowell. It is the first live-action production from DreamWorks Animation, as well as the first DreamWorks Animation production to be a remake.

28 Years Later (Theaters – June 20, 2025)

The film is about a Sonny Hayes, a Formula One driver who raced in the 1990s, has a horrible crash, forcing him to retire from Formula One and start racing in other disciplines. The Bad Guys 2 (Theaters – August 1, 2025)
The sequel to The Bad Guys (2022) and the second film in the Bad Guys franchise, an animated heist comedy film loosely based on the children’s book series of the same name by Aaron Blabey.
Directed by Pierre Perifel and co-directed by JP Sans. The film stars Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Craig Robinson, Anthony Ramos, Awkwafina, Zazie Beetz, Richard Ayoade, Lilly Singh, and Alex Borstein, reprising their roles from the first film, with Danielle Brooks, Maria Bakalova, and Natasha Lyonne joining the cast.
The film follows five years after the events of the first film, the Bad Guys are struggling to find trust and acceptance in their newly minted lives as Good Guys when they are pulled out of retirement and forced to do “one last job” by an all-female squad of criminals called the Bad Girls who are fans of their earlier exploits.
Freakier Friday (Theaters – August 8, 2025)
Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, it is a sequel to Freaky Friday (2003), itself based on Mary Rodgers’s 1972 novel, and the seventh overall film in the franchise.
Directed by Nisha Ganatra and written by Jordan Weiss. Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan, Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Stephen Tobolowsky, Lucille Soong and Rosalind Chao reprise their respective roles from the original film, with Julia Butters and Manny Jacinto joining the cast.
Nobody 2 (Theaters – August 15, 2025)
It serves as the sequel to the 2021 film Nobody. In March 2021, Connie Nielsen expressed interest in reprising her role as Becca Mansell in a sequel. In December 2022, Kelly McCormick announced that a sequel was officially happening, with principal photography scheduled for 2023.
Directed by Timo Tjahjanto and written by Derek Kolstad, Aaron Rabin, Bob Odenkirk, and Umair Aleem. Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, RZA, Michael Ironside, Colin Salmon, Gage Munroe, Paisley Cadorath, and Christopher Lloyd all reprise their roles from the first film while Sharon Stone, Colin Hanks, John Ortiz, Mckenna Grace and Chris Pine all play new characters.
The Conjuring: Last Rites (Theaters – September 5, 2025)
Supernatural horror film is the sequel to The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021), and the ninth and final installment of the main series in The Conjuring Universe timeline.
The film is directed by Michael Chaves. It stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who reprise their roles as paranormal investigators and authors Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Tron: Ares (Theaters – October 10, 2025)
A standalone sequel to Tron: Legacy (2010) and the third installment in the Tron franchise, it is directed by Joachim Rønning from a screenplay by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne. The film stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson and Sarah Desjardins, with Jeff Bridges reprising his role from the previous installments.
Tron: Ares follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.
The Black Phone 2 (Theaters – October 17, 2025)
It is a sequel to The Black Phone (2021), which in turn is an adaptation of the 2004 short story of the same name by Joe Hill. Directed by Scott Derrickson, and written by Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, who are both producing with Jason Blum.
The film stars Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and Ethan Hawke reprising their roles.
Predator: Badlands (Theaters – November 7, 2025)
Science fiction action film in the Predator franchise. It is the seventh film in the mainline series and ninth in the overall franchise. The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, co-written by Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison, and stars Elle Fanning.
In the future, a Predator traverses on an alien wasteland, while two sisters discover their horrifying past.
Wicked: For Good (Wicked: Part Two) (Theaters – November 21, 2025)
The highly anticipated sequel to Wicked (2024), it is the second installment of a two-part film adaptation of the stage musical of the same name by Stephen Schwartz and Holzman, which is loosely based on the 1995 novel, in turn based on the Oz books and the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.
Directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox. It stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, with Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum rounding out the principal cast.
Set in the Land of Oz, before and after Dorothy Gale’s arrival from Kansas, the plot will cover the events of the musical’s second act, following Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship being put to the test as they embrace their new respective identities as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, and how the consequences of their actions will change all of Oz forever.
Zootopia 2 (Theaters – November 26, 2025)
An animated buddy cop comedy the second feature film in the Zootopia franchise, it is being directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, written by Bush, and produced by Yvett Merino. It stars Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman reprising their roles as Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from the first film, joined by Ke Huy Quan and Fortune Feimster.
In the film detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde must go undercover in Marsh Market to crack the case when they find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile.
Avatar: Fire And Ash (Theaters – December 19, 2025)
James Cameron returns with another installment. It is the sequel to Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) and the third installment in the Avatar film series.
Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, and Giovanni Ribisi reprise their roles from previous films, while David Thewlis and Oona Chaplin portray new characters.
Marty Supreme (Theaters – December 25, 2025)
Marty Supreme is expected to be a holiday favorite, blending humor with heartfelt moments as it follows its titular character through various adventures.
The film is produced and directed by Josh Safdie, who co-wrote it with Ronald Bronstein. The film stars and is co-produced by Timothée Chalamet. It also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler, the Creator, Odessa A’zion, Penn Jillette, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher.
The Housemaid (Theaters – December 25, 2025)
The Housemaid is a thriller film directed by Paul Feig, starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried with Michele Morrone. It is an adaptation by Rebecca Sonnenshine of the novel by Freida McFadden.
Follows a struggling woman who is happy to start over as a housemaid for an affluent, elite couple.
Happy Gilmore 2 (Netflix – 2025 Expected)
It is a sequel to Happy Gilmore (1996), directed by Kyle Newacheck, and written by Tim Herlihy and Adam Sandler. Sandler, Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, Dennis Dugan, Allen Covert, and Ben Stiller reprise their roles from the original film.
In September 2022, Adam Sandler stated that he hoped to eventually make a sequel to Happy Gilmore, saying he had been creating ideas for what a follow-up film would be, while stating the character would be involved in a senior golf tour.[9] In March 2024, Christopher McDonald revealed that a sequel was in development, and that Sandler had shown him a draft of the script to read.
