Storyline

A girl wakes up in a gigantic secret laboratory. As the girl escapes from a laboratory, she stumbles upon Kyung Hee, who is trying to protect her house from criminal gangs. When the girl comes face to face with a criminal organization approaching Kyung Hee’s house, the girl overpowers them with overwhelming power, and in the meantime, they start chasing her in the secret laboratory. Who is this mysterious girl and why is she being chased?

About The Witch: Part 2. The Other One Movie

The Witch: Part 2. The Other One (마녀(魔女) Part2. The Other One) is a South Korean science fiction action horror film written and directed by Park Hoon-jung. A sequel to the 2018 film The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion, it stars Shin Si-ah, Park Eun-bin, and Jo Min-su.

At the 23rd Busan International Film Festival on October 5, 2018, director Park Hoon-jung and actor Kim Da-mi announced the sequel. Park stated that the story would continue from where the first film left off.

Shin Si-ah was selected for the lead role after auditioning in the summer of 2020, beating 1,408 other candidates. Lee Jong-suk made his post-military comeback with this film. Warner Bros. Korea, the original license holder, partnered with Next Entertainment World (NEW) for investment and distribution. The production team from The Witch: Part 1 returned, including cinematographer Kim Young-ho, art directors Hwa Seong and Choi Hyun-seok, and martial arts director Kim Jung-min. Park Eun-bin also returned to the big screen after nine years, her last film being Secretly, Greatly (2013).

Filming began in late December 2020 and concluded on April 19, 2021. The film was shot on Jeju Island, with key scenes filmed at Jeju Stone Culture Park and the Glass House in Seopjikoji.

Released on June 15, 2022, across 1,796 screens, the film debuted at No. 1 at the Korean box office with 266,526 admissions. It crossed 1 million admissions in four days, 2 million in 11 days, and 2.5 million in 18 days.

As of January 7, 2023, it ranked 6th among Korean films released in 2022, grossing $22,954,356 with 2,806,501 admissions.

The Witch: Part 2. The Other One Release Date

The theatrical release of The Witch: Part 2. The Other One was initially scheduled for April 2022 but was postponed due to COVID-19. It was eventually released in South Korea on June 15, 2022.

The film’s promotion involved unique online and offline marketing strategies. Starting May 9, the official website provided confidential information about the protagonist (Shin Si-ah) who escaped the secret laboratory. A fan art contest, running until June 6, was also announced. From May 16, bus stops along Gangnam-daero, from Sinsa Station to Yangjae Station, were covered with lenticular advertisements, creating a “Witch Road” that drew public attention.

The film was sold to 124 countries and had a simultaneous release in 11 countries alongside its domestic premiere.

It was invited to the 26th Fantasia International Film Festival, screening for its Quebec premiere on July 29, 2022. The European premiere took place on September 5, 2022, in the international competition section of the 40th Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival.

The film became available for streaming on IPTV platforms (KT olleh TV, SK Btv, LG U+ TV), Home Choice, Google Play, TVING, WAVVE, Naver TV, KT Skylife, and Cinefox from July 14, 2022.
