Storyline
Two friends, Bahura Pandey and Khattani,, work for a goon, Guiya Shakeel, where they do Pakdaai Shaadi where a bride is kidnapped and forced to marry the one who loves her. They get a job to kidnap Roohi and somehow manage to complete it–with much difficulty–but Shakeel asks them to keep Roohi at an isolated place as the marriage gets postponed. Bahura is shocked to see that Roohi is a possessed woman; Khattani refuses to believe him. Bahura falls in love with innocent Roohi, while Khattani falls for possessed Afza. When Shakeel orders them to kill Roohi, Bahura decides to go against him and free Roohi from the spirit.
About Roohi Movie
Roohi is a Hindi comedy horror film directed by Hardik Mehta and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films’ banner. It stars Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor, and Varun Sharma in the lead roles. Roohi is the second installment in Maddock Supernatural Universe, the first being Stree, and is followed by Bhediya.
It was announced on 29 March 2019 and filming kicked off on 14 June 2019 in Agra. The film was set to release in June 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic in India interrupted production.
Roohi was initially planned for release on 20 March 2020 but the makers later announced 17 April as the new release date. However, it was further pushed to 5 June on 17 February.
The film’s title was changed to Roohi from Roohi Afzana on 15 February 2021, and it was released in India on 11 March 2021. The film received negative reviews from critics for its convoluted plot.
The film was released on JioCinema on 8 April and released on Netflix the next day.
