Storyline
Viplav is an employee in BSNL who falls in love with Aradhya, a corporate professional in iLabs Centre and a Brahmin girl. Viplav and Aradhya get married against their parents’ wishes and soon faces relationship problems, along with insecurities, jealousy and other factors.
About Kushi Movie
Kushi is a Telugu family romance social drama film written and directed by Shiva Nirvana and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The film stars Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha in lead roles.
Originally announced in December 2019, the project was initially set to be directed by Shiva Nirvana with Dil Raju producing under Sri Venkateswara Creations. However, in April 2022, it was officially launched under the tentative title #VD11, with Mythri Movie Makers taking over production. The film’s title was later revealed as Kushi in May 2022.
Principal photography began in April 2022, with the first schedule shot in Kashmir, concluding in May. Filming locations in Kashmir included Anantnag, Pampore railway station in Pulwama, Mamaleshwar Temple in Pahalgam, and Dal Lake in Srinagar. Additional shooting took place in Kakinada and Kerala. In May 2023, the title song was filmed in Turkey.
Kushi was released theatrically on 1 September 2023 in Telugu, along with dubbed versions in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. Initially set for a December 2022 release, the film was postponed to February 2023 due to production delays and was later rescheduled to 1 September 2023.
The worldwide theatrical rights were sold for ₹52.5 crore (US$6.0 million). Netflix acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for ₹30 crore (US$3.4 million), with the film premiering on the platform from 1 October 2023.
A sequel, tentatively titled Kushi 2, has been officially announced, retaining Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha as the lead actors. Script development for the sequel is currently in progress.
