Storyline
A sequel to the mystic thriller Karthikeya, which deals with the personal problems of Karthik and how he comes out of them. His pursuit of the truth leads him to find out the power of the Indian ancient system and the Tatva of Lord Sri Krishna.
About Karthikeya 2 Movie
Karthikeya 2 is a Telugu mystery adventure film written and directed by Chandoo Mondeti. A sequel to the 2014 film Karthikeya, it stars Nikhil Siddhartha and Anupama Parameswaran. The film is produced by Abhishek Agarwal Arts and People Media Factory. The story follows Dr. Karthikeya as he embarks on a quest to uncover the lost anklet of Lord Krishna.
The sequel was initially announced in October 2017 by Nikhil Siddhartha, with plans to commence production by the end of 2018. However, delays due to his previous film Arjun Suravaram pushed the official launch to March 2020, when it was inaugurated with a puja ceremony in Tirupati.
Principal photography began in February 2021, with filming taking place in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. However, production was briefly halted in March 2021 due to Nikhil’s leg injury, resuming in April 2021. The final shooting schedule took place in Spain, Portugal, and Greece in March 2022.
Karthikeya 2 was released theatrically on 13 August 2022 in Telugu, along with a Hindi-dubbed version. Initially slated for release on 22 July 2022, it was postponed to 12 August to avoid clashing with Thank You and was further delayed by a day to steer clear of Macherla Niyojakavargam.
The film’s worldwide theatrical rights were sold for ₹17.25 crore, with Zee Studios acquiring theatrical, satellite, and digital distribution rights. The Malayalam-dubbed version premiered in Kerala on 23 September 2022.
The post-theatrical streaming rights were acquired by ZEE5, where the film premiered on 5 October 2022 in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi, coinciding with Vijayadashami. Within the first 48 hours, it garnered over 100 crore viewing minutes.
Director Chandoo Mondeti has expressed his plans to continue the franchise with Karthikeya 3, stating that he has many more stories to tell about the character. The final act of Karthikeya 2 hints at the next installment in the series.
