Storyline:
A Hockey player wannabe finds out that he has the most powerful golf drive in history. He joins the P.G.A. tour to make some money to save grandma’s house. The downside is that his hockey player mentality doesn’t really go on the P.G.A. tour. Especially with the favorite to win the championship.
About Happy Gilmore Movie:
Happy Gilmore is an American sports comedy directed by Dennis Dugan and produced by Robert Simonds, featuring Adam Sandler in the title role, alongside Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, and Carl Weathers.
The screenplay, co-written by Sandler and his longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy, was their second project together following Billy Madison (1995). This film also marked the beginning of multiple collaborations between Sandler and Dugan.
With a production budget of $12 million, filming took place from July 6 to September 1, 1995, primarily in Vancouver, British Columbia. Golf course scenes were shot at Swan-e-set Bay Resort & Country Club in Pitt Meadows, while interior shots, including those in the broadcast booth, were filmed in an abandoned Vancouver hospital. Arthur Albert served as cinematographer, and Mark Mothersbaugh, frontman of Devo, composed the soundtrack.
Released by Universal Pictures on February 16, 1996, Happy Gilmore was a box office hit, grossing $41.2 million despite mixed reviews from critics. It won an MTV Movie Award for Best Fight, featuring the iconic scene between Sandler and Bob Barker.
A sequel is set for release in 2025.
