Die With A Smile – Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars

Die With A Smile Lyrics

[Intro: Bruno Mars]
(Ooh, ooh)

[Verse 1: Bruno Mars]
I, I just woke up from a dream
Where you and I had to say goodbye
And I don’t know what it all means
But since I survived, I realized

[Pre-Chorus: Bruno Mars]
Wherever you go, that’s where I’ll follow
Nobody’s promised tomorrow
So I’ma love you every night like it’s the last night
Like it’s the last night

[Chorus: Bruno Mars]
If the world was ending
I’d wanna be next to you
If the party was over
And our time on Earth was through
I’d wanna hold you just for a while
And die with a smile
If the world was ending
I’d wanna be next to you

[Post-Chorus: Bruno Mars]
(Ooh, ooh)

[Verse 2: Lady Gaga, Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars]
Ooh, lost, lost in the words that we scream
I don’t even wanna do this anymore
‘Cause you already know what you mean to me
And our love’s the only war worth fighting for

[Pre-Chorus: Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars]
Wherever you go, that’s where I’ll follow
Nobody’s promised tomorrow
So I’ma love you every night like it’s the last night
Like it’s the last night

[Chorus: Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga]
If the world was ending
I’d wanna be next to you
If the party was over
And our time on Earth was through
I’d wanna hold you just for a while
And die with a smile
If the world was ending
I’d wanna be next to you

[Bridge: Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Both]
Right next to you
Next to you
Right next to you
Oh-oh

[Chorus: Lady Gaga, Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars, Bruno Mars]
If the world was ending
I’d wanna be next to you
If the party was over
And our time on Earth was through
I’d wanna hold you just for a while
And die with a smile
If the world was ending
I’d wanna be next to you
If the world was ending
I’d wanna be next to you

[Outro: Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars]
(Ooh, ooh)
I’d wanna be next to you

About Die With A Smile Song

“Die with a Smile” is a song by American artists Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, released on August 16, 2024, via Interscope Records. Originally conceived as a standalone single, the track was later confirmed to be part of Gaga’s upcoming eighth studio album, Mayhem (2025). The song was written and produced by Gaga, Mars, Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II, and Andrew Watt, with additional songwriting contributions from James Fauntleroy. The collaboration stemmed from Mars inviting Gaga to his studio, where he shared the track in progress. The two quickly completed the song, writing and recording it on the same day.

In “Die with a Smile,” Gaga and Mars convey a powerful sense of longing and love, delving into themes of devotion and urgency in the face of uncertain outcomes and endings. The song’s soft rock vibe draws comparisons to Gaga’s Joanne (2016) and her 2018 hit “Shallow” from the A Star Is Born soundtrack, as well as Mars’ work with Anderson .Paak in their Silk Sonic project. The music video, directed by Mars and Daniel Ramos, features the duo performing the track on a retro-inspired stage, released alongside the song.

Critics have praised the vocal chemistry between Gaga and Mars, further cementing the song’s appeal. “Die with a Smile” has earned major recognition, with nominations for Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards. It has also achieved significant commercial success, topping the Billboard Global 200 for eight weeks, the Hot 100 for four weeks, and charting at number one in over 20 countries.
