About Besharam Rang Song
“Besharam Rang” is a Hindi-language song from the soundtrack of the 2023 Indian film Pathaan. Composed by the musical duo Vishal-Shekhar (Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani), the track features lyrics by Kumaar and vocals by Shilpa Rao and Caralisa Monteiro, with backing vocals by Dadlani and Ravjiani. Released on 11 December 2022 as the album’s first single under YRF Music, the song blends an old-school melodic approach with a contemporary musical arrangement. It also incorporates Spanish verses penned by Dadlani.
The song was released in Tamil as “Azhaiyaa Mazhai” and in Telugu as “Naa Nijam Rangu”. Upon its release, Besharam Rang garnered widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics, with Deepika Padukone’s hook step becoming a viral sensation. The song amassed over 630 million views on YouTube and held the title of the fastest track to reach 100 million views in 2022.
Shilpa Rao’s vocal performance was particularly praised, earning her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer and the Mirchi Music Award for Female Vocalist of the Year.
