About Borbaad Movie

Borbaad is a Bangladeshi film directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, who also wrote the story and screenplay. This marks his debut as a director in a full-length feature film, though he has previously directed over a hundred dramas.

Shakib Khan, Jisshu Sengupta, and Idhika Paul star in lead roles. Indian actress Nusrat Jahan will make a cameo appearance in an item song for the film.

Shakib Khan and Idhika Paul reunite for their second collaboration after the success of Priyotoma (2023), which became the second-highest-grossing Bangladeshi film of all time.

The film’s shooting was initially planned to begin in late August or September 2024. However, it was delayed due to the anti-discrimination student movement in Bangladesh in July and August.

After nearly a month’s delay, principal photography finally commenced on October 20, 2024, at Ellora Studios in Mumbai, India. According to reports, 80% of the filming took place outside the country. With a production budget ranging between ৳15–৳18 crore, it stands as one of the most expensive Bangladeshi films ever made.

Renowned Indian action director Ravi Varma has worked on the film’s action sequences, bringing his expertise from numerous Bollywood and Telugu films. He is joined by Aejaz Master from Mumbai, along with several other top-tier stunt directors. For the dance sequences, Bollywood choreographer Adil Sheikh is reportedly on board. The film’s cinematography is handled by Indian cinematographer Shailesh Awasthi.

The director initially stated that the first look of the film would be released before October 10, 2024. However, it was not unveiled as planned. Instead, the official poster launch event for Borbaad took place on December 18, 2024, at a hotel in Dhaka, where a 20-second motion poster was revealed. The film’s official teaser was later released on February 27, 2025. The 1-minute, 44-second teaser garnered widespread attention, showcasing Shakib Khan in a never-before-seen avatar.

Borbaad Controversy

A controversy arose regarding the film’s cinematography credit. Indian cinematographer Shailesh Awasthi claimed to be the film’s primary cinematographer and played a dominant role in its visual and creative development. He alleged that he was excluded from the final credits, in which the cinematography was attributed to Raju Raj instead. Awasthi later termed the controversy a misunderstanding and appreciated the director’s work.
