Early Life & Education

She was born in a Marathi family on 14 June 1997. Her parents are Shailesh Wagh, a builder and Namrata Wagh, an architect. She studied at Mumbai’s The Dadar Parsee Youths Assembly High School and Ruparel College. Manohar Joshi, former chief minister of Maharashtra, was her maternal grandfather.
Career
Sharvari began her journey in the film industry as an assistant director on Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, Bajirao Mastani, and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. She had been auditioning for lead roles since 2014 before making her acting debut in the Amazon Prime series The Forgotten Army – Azaadi Ke Liye (2020), where she starred opposite Sunny Kaushal.
She made her film debut in Yash Raj Films’ crime comedy Bunty Aur Babli 2 (2021), alongside Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, and Siddhant Chaturvedi. While the film underperformed at the box office, Sharvari’s performance was well received, earning her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female. Hindustan Times praised her screen presence, noting her confidence in her first film.
After a three-year gap, she returned to the big screen with Munjya (2024), a comedy horror film inspired by a Maharashtrian folktale and part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. The film became a sleeper hit and marked her breakthrough role. Rediff‘s Sukanya Verma remarked that Sharvari “sticks to her brief—beam in enthusiasm, scowl in prosthetics.”
She then made a brief special appearance in YRF’s period drama Maharaj, opposite debutant Junaid Khan, which was released on Netflix. Later in 2024, she starred in the action drama Vedaa alongside John Abraham, portraying a Dalit woman in the titular role. While Scroll.in’s Nandini Ramnath commended her ability to channel her character’s resilience, the film struggled at the box office, with The Times of India attributing its underperformance to its clash with Stree 2.
Sharvari is set to join the YRF Spy Universe in Alpha, a spy thriller led by Alia Bhatt, marking her foray into the action genre.
Personal Life
Sharvari has often been the subject of speculation regarding her rumored relationship with Sunny Kaushal, though neither has confirmed it. Sunny has maintained that he is single and described Sharvari as a “very good friend.” Despite the rumors, she was a guest at Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif’s wedding in 2021 and has been seen vacationing with their family. Ranveer Singh even hinted at a possible relationship between Sunny and Sharvari during an episode of Koffee with Karan.
In an interview with Filmfare, Sharvari shared that cheating is a major red flag for her in relationships, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect. She revealed that she has dated “two funny boys” in the past but prefers to keep her personal life private. In another interview, she expressed her deep belief in love, stating she could “literally travel countries, continents, and oceans” for it.
Sharvari also shares a strong bond with Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif, referring to them as a “power couple.” She has praised Vicky as #supertalented and described Katrina as an exceptional dancer and a highly skilled actress.
