Lalisa Manobal (Thai: ลลิษา มโนบาล; known mononymously as Lisa (Korean: 리사), is a Thai rapper, singer, dancer, and actress, best known as a member of the South Korean girl group Blackpink. Debuting under YG Entertainment in August 2016, Lisa has since gained global recognition for her musical talent and stage presence. In September 2021, Lisa launched her solo career with the release of her debut single album Lalisa, setting a record as the first female artist in South Korea to sell 736,000 copies within its first week. Early Life and Education

Lisa was born Pranpriya Manobal on March 27, 1997, in Buriram Province, Thailand. She later legally changed her name to Lalisa, meaning “the one being praised,” based on a fortune teller’s advice for prosperity. Raised as an only child, she grew up with her Thai mother, Chitthip Brüschweiler, and her Swiss stepfather, chef Marco Brüschweiler. Lisa completed her secondary education at Praphamontree School I and II and is multilingual, speaking Thai, Korean, and English fluently, along with basic Japanese and Chinese.
Lisa developed an early passion for dance, enrolling in classes at age four and competing in various contests, including To Be Number One. She was a member of the dance crew We Zaa Cool, alongside BamBam of Got7. In 2009, the group won the Special Team Award on the LG Entertainment Million Dream Sanan World competition. That same year, Lisa finished as the runner-up in the Top 3 Good Morals of Thailand singing contest.
In 2010, at age 13, Lisa auditioned for YG Entertainment in Thailand, inspired by K-pop groups like BigBang and 2NE1. Out of 4,000 applicants, she was the only one selected, impressing YG’s then-CEO Yang Hyun-suk and judge Danny Im of 1TYM with her confidence and talent.
She moved to South Korea in 2011 to begin training, becoming YG Entertainment’s first non-ethnically Korean trainee on April 11. During her trainee years, she appeared as a backup dancer in Taeyang’s Ringa Linga (2013) and modeled for fashion and beauty brands, including Nona9on in 2015 and Moonshot in 2016.

Lisa debuted in August 2016 as one of the four members of Blackpink, alongside Jisoo, Rosé, and Jennie, becoming the first non-ethnically Korean artist under YG Entertainment. The group’s debut single album, Square One, featured hit tracks Whistle and Boombayah, the former topping South Korean charts. In 2018, Blackpink signed with Interscope Records as part of a global partnership with YG Entertainment.

Lisa expanded her presence in entertainment by joining the military variety show Real Man 300 in 2018, earning the unofficial Character of the Year award at the MBC Entertainment Awards. Despite frequent sightings together and social media interactions, both have remained silent about their relationship status. They have been spotted on multiple occasions, including on a luxury yacht in Italy and at BLACKPINK concerts, fueling speculation.
Lisa’s surprise performance at the Global Citizen Festival further sparked discussion, as fans interpreted her lyrics as a reference to Arnault. In January 2025, she posted an Instagram photo featuring matching couple watches with a mystery man, which many believe to be Arnault, leading to speculation of a “soft launch” of their relationship.
