Demet Özdemir is a Turkish actress, model, and dancer. She took part in Bengü’s dance team and then began to dance in ‘Efes Kizlar’. Mustafa Sandal’s “Ates Et ve Unut” clip also took place. She is best known as Aylin with electric power in Sana Bir Sir Verecegim’s fantastic series.

Early Life & Education


Demet Özdemir was born in Izmit, Turkey on 26 February 1992 as the youngest of three children. She moved to Istanbul with her mother and siblings after her parent’s divorce, when she was 7 years old. She lost contact with her father after the separation.
Her grandmother was one of the Turkish minorities in Bulgaria (a.k.a Bulgarian Turk). She immigrated from Bulgaria to Turkey. Her grandmother and her brother later immigrated to Germany.
Career
Dance career
Özdemir began dancing at the age of 15, balancing her studies while supporting her family. She worked as a backup dancer for Bengü before joining the dance group Efes Kızları. Her talent also led her to appear in Mustafa Sandal’s music video, Ateş Et ve Unut.
Gaining recognition through her roles in TV series such as Erkenci Kuş, Love Tactics, and Adım Farah, Özdemir has captivated audiences with both her acting and dance performances. Despite her success in acting, she revealed in a 2020 interview that her true passion has always been dancing. Although she received professional training, she does not see dancing as her sole career path.
Born in Turkey, Özdemir has ancestral ties to Bulgaria. Standing at 5 feet 7 inches, she falls under the Pisces zodiac sign. Her grandmother was part of a Turkish community in Bulgaria before relocating to Turkey, while her grandmother and brother later settled in Germany.
Acting career
Özdemir trained in theater and acting at Şahika Tekand Studio between 2011 and 2013. Her acting career began with Sana Bir Sır Vereceğim, a fantasy drama on Fox, where she played Aylin, a character with electric powers. The series gained a strong fanbase, particularly among young audiences.
She then portrayed Ayla, also known as Baronez Alina Sokolova, in the historical drama Kurt Seyit ve Şura, playing a noble Russian woman forced to work as a laundress in Istanbul after fleeing the Russian Revolution. Following this, she appeared as Demet in the comedy-fantasy film Tut Sözünü and took on the role of Aslı in the romantic comedy series Çilek Kokusu. She also featured in Bengü’s music video Hodri Meydan.
In 2016, Özdemir starred as Lale Yenilmez in the romantic comedy series No: 309, which ran for 65 episodes until October 2017 and was broadcast internationally in Venezuela, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia, Spain, Romania, and Hungary. Alongside her co-star Furkan Palalı, she participated in LÖSEV’s New Year’s Eve event to bring joy to children with leukemia. The following year, she appeared in the dance-comedy film Sen Kiminle Dans Ediyorsun, written by Leyla ile Mecnun’s Burak Aksak.
Between 2018 and 2019, Özdemir took on the lead role of Sanem in Erkenci Kuş (Daydreamer), starring alongside Can Yaman. She also performed the show’s theme song, Günaydın, composed by Cem Öget. Her performance earned her the Best Actress award at the 2019 Murex d’Or in Lebanon. The series gained international popularity, especially in Italy, where she was invited to the entertainment show Verissimo.
In November 2019, she became a brand ambassador for Pantene Turkey. That same year, she starred as Zeynep in the drama Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir (My Home, My Destiny), inspired by Gülseren Budayıcıoğlu’s novel Camdaki Kız. The series, which aired until 2021, addressed issues of violence and societal challenges faced by women. Fans were encouraged to support the campaign “End Violence Against Women.”
On February 11, 2022, Özdemir played Aslı Yıldırım in the Netflix film Aşk Taktikleri (Love Tactics), directed by Emre Kabakuşak, alongside Şükrü Özyıldız. Later, she became an ambassador for Disney+ Türkiye and starred as İlkin in Dünyayla Benim Aramda, a drama exploring themes of love and deception, featuring Bugra Gülsoy, Hafsanur Sancaktutan, Zerrin Tekindor, and Metin Akdülger.
In 2023, she starred as Farah in Adım Farah, an action-crime drama adapted from the Argentinian series La Chica Que Limpia. The series follows an Iranian woman who flees to Turkey and works as a cleaner to support her sick son but finds herself entangled in a crime scene. Starring alongside Engin Akyürek, her performance earned her the 2023 Actor of the Year title by Socipol members.
On July 14, she reprised her role in the Netflix sequel Aşk Taktikleri 2 (Love Tactics 2), directed by Recai Karagöz. In September, she attended the 80th Venice Film Festival, where she received the Kinéo Award for Best International Actress for her work in Kurt Seyit ve Şura and the Aşk Taktikleri films.
In October 2024, she began filming Cinlerin Düğünü, directed by Ferit Karahan, set for release in 2025. Additionally, she served as a jury member for the 21st Cinema of the Future Competition (Geleceğin Sineması Yarışması), an event supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to discover new filmmaking talents.
Personal Life
On 28 August 2022, Demet Özdemir married musician and actor Oğuzhan Koç. In April 2023, the couple announced that they were getting a divorce. They divorced on 8 May 2023.
