Storyline

A curious medical student is awestruck by the legendary tales surrounding a forgotten Indian temple. Eventually, he embarks on a quest to unravel the secrets behind the mysterious temple.

About Karthikeya Movie

Karthikeya is a Telugu mystery thriller directed by Chandoo Mondeti, featuring Nikhil Siddhartha, Swati Reddy, Tanikella Bharani, Rao Ramesh, and Jayaprakash. Produced by Venkata Srinivas under the Magnus Cine Prime banner, the film’s music was composed by Shekar Chandra, with Karthik Ghattamaneni handling cinematography and Karthika Srinivas as the editor.

Inspired by an event at the Talupulamma Temple in Andhra Pradesh, Mondeti crafted the storyline. Production began on 10 June 2013, with principal photography running from 5 July 2013 to 21 February 2014, taking place across Visakhapatnam, Araku, and Samarlakota in Andhra Pradesh, as well as locations in Tamil Nadu including Kumbakonam.

The film was released on 24 October 2014, coinciding with Diwali, and received positive reviews. Made on a budget of ₹4–6 crore, it grossed over ₹20 crore at the box office.

Karthikeya garnered four nominations at the 62nd Filmfare Awards South and won one award at the 4th South Indian International Movie Awards. Its success led to the announcement of a sequel, Karthikeya 2, which was released on 13 August 2022.
